by: Denni Kurniawan

Idul Adha is one of important date in Islamic Calendar and always celebrated by all Muslims around the world. It also called as Festival of Sacrifice or Greater Eid, to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Isma’il as an act of obedience to Allah, before Allah intervened to provide him with a ram to sacrifice
instead. This is our first celebration of Idul Adha in Taiwan.

In the early morning, we went to Taichung Great Mosque to pray and listen to khutbah. If we compare to the celebration in Indonesia, actually our journey was quite far. In Indonesia, the pray usually conducted in an open field, where thousands of people will join the pray and listen to khutbah. Since Muslim in Taiwan is minority, only around five big Mosque around the country. After pray and listen to khutbah, we went to restaurant around Taichung to celebrate this Greater Eid.
